Steel used

440C Steel
Acero 440c 440C stainless steel is an excellent, high-end, usually hardened to around 56-58 Rc, very sturdy and well in this hard-edged. 440C was the king of the stainless steel cutlery in the 80s, before they take the ATS-34 title in 90 years. Resists rust well. 440C is fairly ubiquitous, and is generally considered an excellent steel generally more resistant.
D-2 Steel
Acero D2 D-2 is sometimes called a "semi-stainless". It has a fairly high chrome content (12%), but not enough to classify it as stainless. However it is more resistant to rust the steel coal. Has excellent wear resistance. D-2 is much more resistant than stainless steel ATS-34 as above, but does not resist as much as the other non-stainless steels. The combination of high wear resistance, almost the stainless, and good toughness make him a great choice for a number of styles of knives.
ATS-34 Steel
Acero ATS34 ATS-34 was the most high-end stainless steel used in the 90s. Hardened usually around 60 Rc, performs a very good edge and is fairly resistant to the high hardness. Not as rust resistant as the 400 series. Many custom makers use ATS-34, and Spyderco (in their high-end knives). Contrary to popular belief, both Steels are manufactured with the Argon / Oxygen / Descatolización (ODA), not consolidated under vacuum.
Damascus steel
Acero damasco Damascus steels are made by forge welding two or more different metals (usually steel). Heated and heat-welded plates. The damascus is then Mark acid. Etching metal models reveals the layers and gives the contrast, depth and color. The Damascus can do with the operation and / or aesthetic objectives in mind. Aesthetically, the choice of materials is important. A shiny steel and a steel engraving of the darker tracks to show the most striking pattern. If the manufacturer is more the beauty that operation, he might even go with nickel, which is bright but not as good as steel for use in cutlery. The other factor that affects Beauty is of course the pattern of the weld. Many employers today are made of Damascus, at random, looking for a specific pattern ...
The following steels will provide bright lines:
  • L-6 and 15N20 (the Swedish version of L-6) - Nickel content
  • O-1 -- contenido de cromo O-1 - content of chromium
  • ASTM E 203 - content of nickel
  • Nickel

The following steels will provide dark lines:
  • 1095
  • 1084
  • 5160
  • 52100
  • W-2

Wood used

Teka Wood
Madera Teka Teka is a beautiful wood look, with colors ranging from gold to dark brown, through shades of red and has a straight grain and fine texture. Puede tener unos nervios bastante gruesos. You can have some pretty thick nerves. La elevada concentración de aceites naturales le confiere un aspecto untuoso. The high concentration of natural oils it looks oily. Estos aceites dan a la teca sus características únicas: resistencia al agua, a la humedad ya las condiciones de sol y lluvia. These oils give the library its unique characteristics: resistance to water, humidity and conditions of sun and rain.

Tempered Steel

Cryogenic Tempering
Templado1

Templado2
Consists of up to 196 ° C cooling of steel, followed by a low annealing, in order to extend the life of tools. El tratamiento no se ve afectado por los afilados o rectificados posteriores ya que va desde la superficie hasta el núcleo de los aceros templados y herramientas de carburo de tungsteno. The treatment is not affected by the subsequent sharp corrections as it goes from the surface to the core of hardened steel and tungsten carbide tools. Los resultados varían según el acero y el proceso previo al tratamiento y van desde 25% hasta 200% de aumento permanente en la vida útil. Results vary depending on the steel and the process prior to treatment ranging from 25% to 200% rise in life.

Sub-zero Treatment
It consists of cooling at -80 ° C tempered steels in order to eliminate the retained austenite, this treatment improves life span in lower proportion to cryogenic treatment, but is recommended as gear parts, where quality control a specified percentage of zero retained austenite.
